their motorcycle. It was great fun!
Exclusively Female Test Ride Event
Saturday April 26th - A great success!
What a great sunny day for this year's BMW ride
around the Vancouver area. Many women were introduced to
the full range and capabilities of BMW motorcycles, when
BMW Motorrad Canada hosted an Exclusively Female Test
Ride Event on Saturday April 26th 2008. They
started at the Delta Town and Country Inn and had a
great ride. The women enjoyed the fully-adjustable
ergonomics and new lower seat heights as they drove. BMW
motorcycles are easily adaptable to female riders of any
size and shape. For further information give us a

Twice as Much Thunder in Canada
Press Release April 18, 2008
It’s not just the BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory
team that is taking to the track in search of podium
glory this year. All over the world, BMW Motorrad-supported
teams are campaigning BMW sports-twins and sports-boxer
machines in search of championship glory, with
representation in various national and regional
championships in several countries including the USA,
South Africa and Canada.
In fact, Canadian BMW fans really have something to
cheer about in 2008 because the Canadian Thunder
national championship for big twin motorcycles has
undergone major changes for the 2008 season, which
allows both HP2 Sport and F 800 riders to participate.
The series, which runs as a support division in the
Parts Canada Superbike Championship, is now divided into
a two-tier category. A new class, titled ‘Canadian
Thunder’, is open to a host of new cutting-edge sports
machines, such as the HP2 Sport, while the F 800 S will
now be eligible for a secondary division called
‘Canadian Sport Twins’ (CST). The new Canadian Thunder
class will see the BMW HP2 Sport line up alongside
rivals such as the Buell 1125R, Ducati 848 and KTM 990
Super Duke, while the CST will pit the F 800 S against
machines such as the Buell XB-9R and XB-12R, and the
Ducati Paul Smart 1000 replica.
The new class structure is very similar to the top two
classes of the SunTrust MOTO-ST endurance series in the
United States. The two divisions will race together at
each Parts Canada Superbike round, using a two-wave
start. There will be separate podiums for the two
classes after each race and separate point standings,
with number one plates awarded to both the Canadian
Thunder and CST champion at season's end.
Two-time Canadian Superbike Champion Michael Taylor of Toronto won last
year's Canadian Thunder title for BMW Motorrad Canada, riding an R 1200 S.
This year the
BMW Motorrad Canada Thunder Team will see the 2007 National Amateur 600cc
Sport Bike Championship winner Paul Glenn join Mike Ferreira on the BMW HP2
Sport. The HP2 Sport is the fastest and most powerful boxer ever to be
introduced by BMW Motorrad and is the same motorcycle that was competing in
the World Endurance Championship last season.

Lower Seat Height Options for 2008 BMW Motorcycles
Press Release: November 29, 2007 Munich.
In 2008 BMW height of selected motorcycle models by up
to 55 mm (depending on the model) with a package of various measures. This
lowering package will be available as an optional extra and is installed
ex-works. Depending on their body height, less experienced motorcyclists and
restarters often only feel safe when stationary on their bike if both feet
reach to the ground. The company offers the new lowering measures for such
customers.
The measures will be introduced successively. The offer
of lowering ex-works is as follows:
| MODEL |
Seat Height with
lowering as optional |
Extra lowest seat height to date |
| R1200R |
750mm |
770 mm |
| R 1200 GS |
790 mm |
820 mm |
| R 1200 RT |
750mm |
780 mm |
| F800 S/ST |
760 mm |
815 mm |
The basis for the extended seat height reduction in all
models is a lowered chassis. This has already been available for the F800
S/ST since spring 2007. Together with the existing low seats, this achieves
a further seat height reduction as compared to previously. For the R1200 R
and R1200 RT this low seat height has also been optimized. It continues to
be available for all motorcycles separately, without the lowered chassis.
The lowered chassis cannot be ordered in conjunction with the special
equipment option “ESA”.
