Gears Heat Controllers

The Pro Tech temperature controller is ergonomically designed and has a patented electronic circuit. It’s a true variable controller and comes with an inbuilt rotary on and off switch. Controller ensures that your heated clothing uses only as much power as required depending on how much you want to heat your garment. • The Pro Tech controller has one output but you can control up to three to four heated clothing’s (if they are interconnected to each other) with it, if total power used by all heated clothing is not more than 10 amps. • It comes with an over load , short circuit and reverse polarity protection feature. • Light weight, weighing only 146 g / 5.2 oz , comes with a convenient clip-on case for easy placement of your portable temperature controller.

Heated Gear Tips

Check if your vehicle has adequate charging system for heated apparel.
Check your vehicle's manual to get the correct wattage then subtract the current drawn (in watts) of all the vehicle electrical components when switched 'on'. The balance wattage figure is what you have left to operate our heated apparels and accessories. Most of today's vehicle 400CC and above will have no problem with the charging system of the vehicle if the rider and passenger are wearing a complete set of heated garments at the same time.

EXAMPLE - If a vehicle has an alternator capacity/output of 550 watts. Total watts consumed by two headlights is 110W, Turn signal 21W, brake light 10W, License plate light 5W. A total consumption equals 146W. Therefore you will be left with a balance of 404 watts which is more than sufficient to run a full set of heated apparel for two people.

Tips for buying gloves

Comfort
A motorcycle glove should have the right size. Since you are using your hands all the time, gloves with the wrong size will be a bother. Big gloves will start to wrap around the bar. Too small will annoy your fingers.

Construction
Most gloves are ergonomically formed. Just watch the rain glove because sometimes it's just two halves sewn together. Gloves are nearly always made up of leather or very strong nylon. Leather provides the highest safety if you hit the ground.

Furthermore a glove should have reinforcements such as extra padding on the knuckles and palms. Special features are carbon shells covering high impact areas. Or little metal studs on the palms to avoid scraping open your hands.

Lining
Some gloves allow you to take out the lining for a wash, which is an extra benefit after about 2.000 miles! You can also get glove liners separate which can be an extra advantage if you want to warm up your medium weight gloves, for example.

Extensions
Often summer gloves don't have them but all others do. It's the part which goes over your sleeve which avoids wind from blowing in your jacket. A disadvantage is that rain can run down your sleeve and into your glove. Still the advantage is better, just tuck away the glove extensions under your jacket during the rain.

Water resistant
Should gloves be water resistant? Yes I say. These days all the material is so high-tec that a good glove should also keep out water. You pay a bite more but it saves you buying a rain mc gloves. Watch for this benefit in gloves. Manufactures will defiantly tell you about it.

Insulation
Apart from a good lining the wind will influence the temperature of your hands big time. Wind creeps in where the glove is stitched together, often being your fingertips. The same place which is so hard to keep warm by your body.

Wrist strap
Straps can be made from Velcro or a simple button clip system. They improves the comfort of a glove.

It's quite simple to imagine that a glove has been designed for a particular hand size. A wrist strap makes sure the gloves holds it ergonomically formed design. This also ensures that all extra safety padding is in the right place.
